
Getting to Great Survey – The perception data gathered through this survey is
an essential aspect of the continuous school improvement process and is ensuring
all students and teachers in HRSB have a voice (parents, students and teachers).
All students and teachers will be taking this survey and we ask that parents please
take this as well.

Report cards – going out this week. Parent teacher is on April 22nd and honour
roll will be out that week as well.

International student – Tanachai Pusuk (Jay) will be with us for 1 month from
Thailand. He will be staying with the Paquettes

Destination Imagination – The tournament was a great day and all of the EG
teams went and did their best. We had 3 teams place (2 seconds and a third). The
top teams heading to Knoxville for Global Finals were teams from Caledonia and
Rocky Lake.

Numbers for next year and staffing – everything is staying the same for the
most part with the exception of Gr. 7 which has higher numbers. It looks like we
are at about 33 students per class in Gr. 7.

Parking lot – our parking lot took a battering this winter from snow removal
equipment. On top of the massive potholes, there are huge mounds of asphalt that
are now appearing with the melting snow. The JOSCH committee has brought
this up as safety issue. The SAC will write a letter to reiterate the deplorable state
of the parking lot in hopes it will aid in its repair.

Free the Children -- We are doing an adopt-a-village campaign where each
classroom will raise money in different ways. Some classes are delivering phone
books, having pizza lunches, etc.

Presentations:
o Eric Crookshank – Globetrotters anti-bullying campaign
o Ryan Laird – Canadian country recording artist founded in 2014 the
Bigger Than That! School program. A powerful and entertaining musical
program designed to prevent bullying, build self-confidence and empower
children to reach for their dreams by demonstrating a real life success
story.

Exam dates -- June 18th and 19th with makeup day on Monday June 22nd.

New activities and events – Lacrosse (boys and girls), Masterchef. There has
been lots of interest in the masterchef club. Ms. Fairbairn teaches a different
cooking technique each week and the students have really been enjoying it.

Trips:
o Big Cove – June 1st to 3rd
o Upper Clements – Monday June 22nd
o

Abenaki – Tuesday, June 23rd
Lynn Gomes – Mr. Mark Harnish is a long-term sub and will be in for her until
the end of the year.
