The material supplementary to this paper includes one data table (MS Word).

Lithological information was extracted from a 1:500 000 scale geological map of
11
Italy. The 128 different lithologies were classified into 18 broad rock types then
12
further sub-divided into 6 general rock categories (Igneous; Metamorphic; Basin
13
slope; Terrestrial; Platform margin and Platform interior). These categories are
14
shown in this table.

which host CO₂ seeps. Rock descriptions were translated from Italian, simplified,
18
and the rocks were then classified into specific rock types and grouped into rock
19
category. Where two descriptions are similar, they represent different formation
20
ages.
