Linacre Gaudy 2016 – Some Accommodation Suggestions
Here is a guide to finding accommodation in Oxford. If you are coming by car, be sure to check if
parking is available, and the cost. (Although there is no parking at the University Club, we hope to
secure Gaudy weekend parking at the William Dunn School at the end of the road.) A number of
Oxford hotels/B&Bs have charm, but no lift, so check if that’s important to you.
University Club – A ‘block booking’ of double and twin rooms has been set aside until the end of
January for Linacre Gaudy attendees. It is ideally located on Mansfield Road, a block from Linacre. All
rooms are ensuite, and include breakfast. Rooms and facilities may be viewed online at
www.club.ox.ac.uk , but rooms must be booked directly with the Club by Telephone:+ 44 ( 0)1865
271044 (Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm); Fax: +44 (0)1865 281765; or E-mail:
reception@club.ox.ac.uk Once Linacre rooms are released, you may check availability and book via
the website, or by phone, fax or e-mail as above.
Oxford Rooms website - http://www.universityrooms.com/en/city/oxford/home for rooms in other
Oxford Colleges, if available. Plug in your dates and requirements, book and pay online. Please read
the details carefully, as not all rooms are ensuite (usually called ‘standard’ if the bath is shared or
down the hall), and may or may not include breakfast. The list is updated as and if large conferences
release rooms they don’t need. Prices vary according to the location and room standard. These are
primarily student rooms, so not posh, but often centrally located with access to College facilities.
Air bnb - https://www.airbnb.co.uk/s/Oxford--United-Kingdom Several Old Members have had
success in finding rooms or family accommodation on the Air bnb website. Room standards vary
quite a bit, so read carefully.
Oxfordshire Tourist Board website list of local accommodation http://www.visitoxfordandoxfordshire.com/ - There is an accommodation search window on the left
side of the home page. You can look for hotels, B&Bs, self-catering, etc. They don’t seem to come up
in any particular order, so check the location, or you might find yourself booked into a hotel in
Banbury. You can book via the Tourist Board website, or you will find a link to the hotel’s website at
the bottom of their listing.
While we cannot make a ‘recommendation’, here is a list of some of the accommodation options
you might want to consider. The list is by no means exhaustive.
