CRITERIA
MAIN CHARACTER – realistic and believable; we relate to his/her
problem and empathize.
STRUCTURE –
story draws us in with a narrative lead; develops the main character and
the problem; builds to a climax; and develops a resolution.
THEME –
Story communicates a clear “so what” or resonant theme. There is
purpose and a meaningful message behind the story. A meaningful
symbol enhances the communication of the theme.
LANGUAGE – words are well-chosen, with effective use of imagery,
figurative language and symbolism.
