CPI Two Day Training 2013-14 The nonviolent crisis intervention program provides techniques that have proven effective in resolving potentially violent crises time and time again. It begins by clarifying basic elements of violent behavior. It proceeds to identify how a crisis may escalate and conversely de-escalate. Finally, it helps identify strategies which have proven successful for thousands of human service personnel throughout the nation. The techniques you will learn will give you the confidence to handle literally any violent episode with minimal anxiety and maximum security. The training will help you prevent violence and safely intervene when disruptive behavior has gone too far. And most importantly, it will not damage the professional bond you have worked so hard to establish with the individuals in your charge. This training would be appropriate for all building staff including cooks, custodians, and bus drivers. All of the training sessions will be held in the media center of the Grand Chain Learning Center. Please park in the lot behind the building. The session is two days 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with registration for 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Lunch is on your own. Participants should wear loose fitting clothing and soft soled shoes. Twelve CPDU’s will be awarded upon successful completion of the two days.
