QParks Freeski Tour Final – O’Neill Roof Battle, 13/04/2013, Superpark Dachstein
At the O’Neill Roof Battle last Saturday at the Superpark Dachstein, the best
riders of the QParks Freeski Tour battled for the overall Tour victory. In a
dramatic final on the rail line, the riders were once again showing off with
awesome tricks. Now the overall winners are crowned and tons of goodies and
more than EUR 5.000,- in prize money have found a new owner!
April showers bring May flowers – well, if that saying is true, we’ll be seeing some nice floral
additions to the Superpark Dachstein. However, tricky weather conditions at the QParks
Freeski Tour Final last Saturday prompted a location change to guarantee a level playing
field for the riders. Initially planned to take place at the kicker line, the contest was moved to
the infamous rail and box section up on the Dachstein. In 3 qualification runs, the riders had
the chance to prove their skills either on a three-part rail line or a 3-part box line.
Unfortunately, strong wind gusts, snowfall and dense fog rendered a safe final impossible, so
the results of the qualification runs had to be used as decisive factor in the day’s ranking.
TIME TO SHINE…
The victory ceremony was held at the Dachstein valley station. And since every cloud has a
silver lining, the sun was also giving a big comeback and both riders and spectators were
rewarded with brightest sunshine. With relaxed beats, witty speeches as well as drinks and
snacks sponsored by Blue Tomato, the O’Neill Roof Battle and the QParks Freeski Tour
2012/13 enjoyed a positive grand finale.
In the Freeski men category, Flo Geyer, Flo Preuss and Torge Nagel scored a hat trick
for Germany. In addition to snatching EUR 1.300,- for the overall victory, Flo Geyer also
won the day’s prize money of EUR 600,-. Naturally, he’s quite pleased with his performance:
Scoring the overall freeski girls victory with 700 tour points, the reigning junior world
champion Lisa Zimmermann also secured the day’s crown and prize money and defended
her title.
In the freeski rookie category, 15-year old Lukas Müllauer from Salzburg was able to
defend his title.
