Promethean Planet – Place Value Resources, by Liz Gibs. This activity will help with teaching
place values up to hundred with an assortment of activities.
There is not an interactive activity on IReady for this lesson.
Teacher center: Remediation/skill building center. Teacher drives DI based on class work, tests, Iready reports, and ST math.
Hands on activity-(pg. 104 common core teacher manual) Distribute a hundreds chart and cubes,
rods, and flats to each student. Give the students a list of numbers. They will sort the numbers
on the hundreds charts with their manipulatives. They will record their answers in their math
journals. The answer should be written in expanded form. Ex. 110 = 1 hundred + 1 ten + 1 one
Computer center- I-ready Math/ST MATH
Students will be given a list on numbers and they are to draw the square for the flat, line for the
rod, and a circle for a cube to write out the number.
Challenge Activity - students will be asked to draw their own hundreds chart. Then given a list of
numbers to the one hundreds and asked to write all the ways they can rewrite the number. Ex.
127: 1 hundred, 2 tens, 7 ones; 12 tens and 7 ones; 127 ones
Assessments
Exit slips, discussion, interactive math journal. Weekly test given on Friday.
Homework is given each week on Monday, and turned in on Friday.

Language Center: This week’s center work for language will come from the Ready Common
Core skill of distinguishing closely related verbs and adjectives and their meanings. Students
will be given a bubble map in which they will complete with closely related verbs and
adjectives, and create sentences using each one properly.

This week, we will use exit slips, discussions, center work, and weekly tests for formative
assessment.
The students will read a passage about a group of people who work together (fire
departments) and include facts about how this group works together.
