Mathematics Lesson Plan Assessment Rubric
Outcome: Candidate will present an effective lesson plan and lesson in alignment with applicable CSDE and NCTM Standards

Lesson Objectives - Objectives must be measurable, appropriate for
this lesson, appropriate for the developmental level of the students,
and be challenging but realistic.
Performance Standard Focus - Lesson should help students achieve
one or more of the content standards.
Content Knowledge and/or Skills – The lesson should help students
understand important content knowledge and/or develop essential
content skills and be aligned with appropriate national and common
core state content standards.
Teaching Strategies - Should be appropriate for the objectives of the
lesson and the developmental level of the students as well as varied
enough to engage students in the learning process.
Organization: Initiation and Closure - The initiation of the lesson
should help students to connect with the previous lesson and/or prior
knowledge. The closure of the lesson should cause students to reflect
on what they have learned as a result of the lesson.
Assessment of Student Learning - The planned assessment(s) will allow
the teacher to know whether students have met the objectives of the
lesson and will cause them to reflect on their own learning.
Strategies for Differentiation – The plan should provide for the special
learning needs of students.
