3.About Flora Gardens Primary School
Flora Gardens Primary School is an inclusive one form entry school with a Children’s Centre. The
school is situated in the heart of London in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. We
have worked hard to develop positive partnerships with our parents and the majority of our parents
now support their children’s learning through reading with their children every morning at school.
The school has an active ‘Parents Association’ which raises money for the school. They organise social
events for children and parents as well as arranging competitions and Fayres for the school.
We aim to achieve our mission through a commitment to excellence. We provide high-quality
teaching and learning, and we have high expectations for all our pupils regardless of their startingpoint. We are a community school and relish our role as an institution serving our local community.
We have strong exchange links with a school in the Isle of Wight – a contrasting English setting. We
also have specialist teaching in Music and PE.
Achievement
In the EYFS, the percentage of children achieving a good level of development in 2014 was 93%
compared to national average of 60%. The EYFS data for the past 5 years has consistently been above
the national averages. The percentage of children achieving expected standard on Year 1 Phonics
Screening Check for 2014 was 93% compared to 74% nationally. Key Stage 1 shows attainment levels
in line with national outcomes over five years, except in 2014 where they are above national
outcomes in reading writing and Maths at Level 2b+.
