Take advantage of our two Waste 2 Resource Education Centres and Waste Facilities Tours. Waste and Recycling Education Centre and Landfill Tour Organics Recycling Education Centre and Landfill Tour Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 What can we recycle? Through a range of interactive activities, students sort materials and explore all the ways they can reduce, reuse and recycle. CCTV cameras allow us to go inside the Materials Recovery Facility and discover the challenges faced by the workers sorting our recycling. Finally we take the bus behind the scenes to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the landfill. Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 How does your garden grow? Get ready to jump into a virtual backyard environment and discover how we mimic nature and recycle our organic waste. Students will look, touch and feel their way through a series of activities that will allow them to discover the fun of backyard composting and worm farming and how easily it can be done! Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 What is sustainable waste management? Students explore how we manage waste and how they can use waste minimisation techniques, like reduce, reuse and recycle to help reduce waste sent to landfill and save natural resources. CCTV cameras allow us to delve into the Materials Recovery Facility and the machines and workers who sort our recycling for reprocessing. Finally we take the bus behind the scenes to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the landfill and Resource Recovery Centre. Student workbooks provided. Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 Waste not, want not! Students will be launched into the world of organics and discover its potential for being recycled into a valuable resource. A series of interactive activities will take students through the steps of composting and worm farming and teach them about the environmental benefits of choosing these methods for the disposal of organic waste.
