and Landfill Tour
Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
What can we recycle? Through a range of
interactive activities, students sort materials and
explore all the ways they can reduce, reuse and
recycle. CCTV cameras allow us to go inside the
Materials Recovery Facility and discover the
challenges faced by the workers sorting our
recycling. Finally we take the bus behind the
scenes to experience the sights, sounds and
smells of the landfill.
Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
How does your garden grow? Get ready to
jump into a virtual backyard environment and
discover how we mimic nature and recycle our
organic waste. Students will look, touch and
feel their way through a series of activities that
will allow them to discover the fun of backyard
composting and worm farming and how easily it
can be done!
Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6
What is sustainable waste management?
Students explore how we manage waste and
how they can use waste minimisation
techniques, like reduce, reuse and recycle to
help reduce waste sent to landfill and save
natural resources. CCTV cameras allow us to
delve into the Materials Recovery Facility and the
machines and workers who sort our recycling for
reprocessing. Finally we take the bus behind the
scenes to experience the sights, sounds and
smells of the landfill and Resource Recovery
Centre. Student workbooks provided.
Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6
Waste not, want not! Students will be launched
into the world of organics and discover its
potential for being recycled into a valuable
resource. A series of interactive activities will
take students through the steps of composting
and worm farming and teach them about the
environmental benefits of choosing these
methods for the disposal of organic waste.
Student workbooks provided.
