Which Common Exams Will Be Administered in Swain County?
Beginning with the spring semester 2013, the state requires the administration of Common Exams only to the extent that
each ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher grades 4-12 has growth value for EVAAS system. Every student that a
teacher teaches must be included in that teacher’s growth value. This score may be gathered from either an End of
Grade/Course score or when these scores are not available a common exam score. Using these criteria, enrollment
patterns were examined to determine which common exams will be administered in Swain County Schools beginning spring
semester 2013. The chart below details the required assessment for Swain County, 2012-13.
