Qualifications for WV World Language Teacher Assessment Curriculum Consultant
(Maximum 4)
 In-depth knowledge of West Virginia’s and national world language curriculum and
standards
 In-depth knowledge of interpretive, interpersonal and presentational performance-based
world language assessments
 Previous experience in developing standards-based curriculum through West Virginia
Department of Education initiatives preferred
 World language teacher certification
 Access to and proficiency in the use of email and basic word processing
Commitment to the Project
 Participate in a 30 minute online webinar conference and review preparation documents
to prepare for the two and one-half day curriculum development training session
 Participate in a two and one-half day curriculum development training session on
Wednesday, September 21 (1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.), Thursday, September 22 (8:30
a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and Friday, September 23 (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) in Charleston, WV
 Work independently for a minimum of eight days to complete individual and team followup work and submit drafts and final work in accordance to specified deadlines
Project Incentives
 Substitute grant to the county
 $100 for Unit Curriculum Overview Document Set (maximum of 2)
 $900 per complete Unit World Language Assessment Set (a total of 2 sets)
 Maximum amount of total teacher compensation: $2000 per teacher******
**** Additionally, travel expenses will be provided for individuals residing a distance
greater than 60 miles from the curriculum development work site
Consultant Responsibilities
Consultants will work collaboratively with content specialists and native language speakers to
develop:
 Two complete content/thematic based instructional units
 Two Unit Curriculum Overview Document Sets (Unit Theme and Content Standards
Document, Contextualized Background Document, Unit Teaching Context Document
 Two Unit World Language Assessment Sets (one interpretive performance-based
assessment lesson plan, one presentational performance-based assessment lesson
plan, corresponding assessment worksheet designs, formative assessment “I can”
statements, complete program assessment scripts for each individual plan’
 Generate additional supplemental materials as needed in order to support the curriculum
development of the project.

independently afterward via email and other technology.

 August 9: Notification of acceptance
 August 18: Webinar
 September 21-23: Two and one-half day work session in Charleston
 September 23- November 4: Independent work completed electronically
 November 9: Revision webinar
 November 9-21: Independent unit revision work if needed
 November 21: Submission of all completed units
