GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY (VARSITY)
Girls of all skill levels are encouraged to join and learn the sport. Due to the number of sports offered to girls in the fall, there
is only a varsity team offered for this competitive athletic program. The Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) rules
state that all field hockey players must practice for at least 10 days before playing in her first game. It is essential that
players attend all preseason practices in order to play in the season opener in early September. The RIIL also requires that
new field hockey players submit a RIIL Assumption of Risk Form (to be issued at preseason practice). The form requires
notarization (the Head of School’s Administrative Assistant, Pat McNally, is a notary public.) This form must be signed and
then handed in to the Athletic Director before the first game of the year.









BOYS ICE HOCKEY (VARSITY, CO-OP)
This competitive athletic program is a co-operative team with Rogers and Tiverton High Schools. The home rink is the St.
Georges Rink in Newport. Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) rules state that all ice hockey players must practice
for at least 10 days before playing in his first game. It is essential that players attend all preseason practices in order to play
in the season opener. The RIIL also requires that new boys’ ice hockey players submit a RIIL Assumption of Risk Form (to
be issued at preseason practice). The form requires notarization (the Head of School’s Administrative Assistant, Pat McNally,

This competitive athletic program is a co-operative team with Juanita Sanchez School. The home field is the Roger Williams
Park softball field, in Providence. Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) rules state that all softball players must
practice for at least 10 days before a player is permitted to play in her first game. It is essential that players attend all
preseason practices in order to play in the season opener. The RIIL also requires that new girls’ softball players submit a RIIL
Assumption of Risk Form (to be issued at preseason practice). The form requires notarization (the Head of School’s
Administrative Assistant, Pat McNally, is a notary public.) This form must be signed and then handed in to the Athletic

----------NON-COMPETITIVE OFFERINGS ----------
LIFETIME FITNESS
Ability to participate in the programs is based on seniority and time of sign-up (higher grade level gets priority). The program
provides access to a personal trainer during daily visits as well as once a week optional workouts. Basic concepts of
conditioning and nutrition are discussed. Included in the fee is a temporary student membership with Ocean State Health and
Fitness. OSHF requires that a liability waiver be signed and returned prior to using the facility. Transportation is provided
for up to 14 individuals, more individuals can participate if they can provide their own transportation.



----------NON-COMPETITIVE OFFERINGS ---------RECREATIONAL SAILING
Students learn the basics of sailing, and more advanced sailors will refine their sailing skills. Space is limited and students are
accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.




FITNESS FOR LIFE
The emphasis of this program is on the development of skills and interest in fitness and recreational activities that can be
used over a lifetime. Activities include walking, volleyball, tennis, badminton, orienteering, biking and kayaking. The
coaches will notify participants in advance when specific equipment is required.



DANCE
Dance includes instruction in Hip Hop as well as Broadway Jazz – a perfect combination for anyone who has a passion for
music and loves to move. Students interested in participating in performances will also receive stage and theater experience.

WINTER RECREATION AND ROBOTICS
Winter Recreation has historically been a big hit with MS students. To keep the program interesting, the coaches are always
adding new activities. The program focuses on engaging students in a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities to
keep them fit and active during the winter months including snowboarding/skiing at Yawgoo Valley, snow tubing, bowling,
bombardment, dodge ball, kickball and walking in Goddard Park. Robotics has been added to this option.


DRAMA
The Performing Arts Department has partnered with Trinity Repertory Company to offer co-curricular opportunities for
