New World, New Opportunity, and New Approaches to Building World-Class Business Schools Theme of the 2011 IACMR Business Meeting and Reception San Antonio, Texas August 14, 2011, Sunday 5:30 – 8:30 pm Dear IACMR members: With great excitement we invite you to attend the 2011 IACMR Annual Business Meeting and reception at the incoming Academy of Management (AoM) convention on Sunday, August 14, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. The Business Meeting will be held between from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in Salon K at Marriott Rivercenter. It will start with a brief report of the major IACMR activities occurred in 2010-2011. We have important and interesting news to share with you! The highlight of the evening is the featured Dean’s Summit entitled “New World, New Opportunity, and New Approaches to Building World-Class Business Schools”. Mr. Shi Wang, the founder and Chairman of the Board of Vanke Co., Ltd. will share with us his experience of developing and leading the largest residential real estate developer in China, and his perspectives on how to synergize the management theories and practices. Five deans from leading business schools in China and North America will share their views about how the changes occurring in the contemporary business world have brought new challenges and opportunities for business schools, and highlight the vision and strategies their schools have taken in seizing the opportunities. This Summit will be a very insightful, informative, and interesting event! Dr. P. Christopher Earley, Dean of the School of Business, University of Connecticut; former dean of the business school at the National University of Singapore. He also held academic chairs at Nanyang Business School, London Business School. Dr. Bill Glick, Dean of Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University; former chair of management department at Arizona State University; AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Board Member. Dr. Yingyi Qian, Dean of School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. He also held academic positions at Stanford University, the University of Maryland, and the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. John A Quelch, Dean of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS); former dean at London Business School. He was also the former senior associate dean and CoChair of the Marketing Unit at Harvard Business School. Dr. Lin Zhou, Dean of Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; former Deputy Dean of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance. He also held positions at Yale University, Duke University, and Arizona State University.
