Scholar Orientation Objectives
1. Briefing on the CISER Science Education Program history, leadership, etc.
2. Program policies, procedures and resources/opportunities training
3. Getting to know and learn from your peer Scholars and CISER Directors
4. SSO and Scholar Events Discussion - You are expected to be an SSO member in
good standing and attend all events unless you have an approved course or personal
conflict. Event details are found at www.ciser.ttu.edu and via SSO weekly
email/Facebook communications. RSVP on time per instructions (Outlook email,
Facebook, email) and include any conflicts relative to upcoming events on the
Scholar calendar or program communications (Scholar Orientation, Scholar
Research Retreat, Scholar Research Forum, etc.)
5. Mentor selection training
6. The Code of Student Conduct outlines behavioral standards developed by the
University community for students and student organizations and the related
procedures for addressing misconduct. Students and student organizations are
responsible for actions that constitute misconduct and violate the Code of Student
Conduct. We expect students to maintain high levels of civility at all times,
particularly displaying respect for the opinions of others.
