Opportunity Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Instruction, in place for three years, the ideal candidate will
have a solid foundation across the breadth of Arts and Sciences courses and programs. The
College is seeking someone to further develop its work in transfer education, as well as
strengthen general education initiatives and assessment plans. The ability to positively
advocate for arts and sciences programs will serve the appointed candidate and College well.
The College is a highly relational organization, so the ability to form and maintain effective
relationships is critical to the success of the chosen candidate. While these interpersonal
skills are important, being data-driven, strategically focused, and having the ability to manage
people are also vital. In addition, a deep understanding of best practices and when to apply
them are assets sought by the College. Finally, experience in empowering faculty, providing
a safe place for them to be innovative, and encouraging them are also descriptors of this
leader.
About the College
Kellogg Community College opened its doors on September 17, 1956 with a focus on academic
excellence that is still recognized today. The original Battle Creek campus has expanded to
include satellite sites in Albion (Eastern Academic Center), Coldwater (Grahl Center), Hastings
(Fehsenfeld Center), and Battle Creek’s Fort Custer Industrial Park (Regional Manufacturing
Technology Center).
KCC employs over 900 full and part-time employees. Over 15,500 students take advantage of
nearly 100 pre-professional college/university transfer programs. Approximately 40 associate
degree programs are aimed at job preparation, and related training for apprenticeships. These
are supplemented by a robust continuing education program. Our student services staff actively
implement programs that bring educational opportunities to those who might otherwise be left out.
The Arts and Sciences Division employs 44 full time faculty, nearly 200 adjunct faculty, and 12
full and part-time staff members. Just over 6,000 students took Arts and Sciences courses in
2013-2014. The Dean will be responsible for a budget of close to $9 Million.

Division under Arts and Communication, and Math and Sciences. In addition, Early Childhood
Education, Human Services, Photography and Multimedia are Occupational Programs that are
offered from this Division’s courses. Eighty-seven College/University Transfer Curricula have
been designed for successful transfer to colleges and universities.
