Commissioner Dunn hires Assistant Commissioner of Communications
Santa Fe, NM (August 20, 2015) Today, Commissioner of Public Lands Aubrey Dunn announced
Emily Strickler as the Assistant Commissioner of Communications.
“We are excited to add Emily to our team. She is a dynamic addition and brings new ideas to
our communication division, we are delighted to welcome her to the State Land Office,” said
Commissioner Dunn of his new hire.
Emily earned a BBA at Oklahoma State University, spending her final semester abroad in
Spanish language immersion. She remained in Spain another eighteen months, teaching
English to business professionals. When Emily returned to the States, she jumped into the
political arena, assisting with campaigns and lobbying in Santa Fe. Later, serving in
Albuquerque, she worked as Communications Director for the Republican Party of New Mexico.
Emily was raised in Farmington. She loves New Mexico and is excited to be a part of the State
Land Office team. “It is wonderful to be a part of such a unique agency. I am surrounded by
great people that work well together and I am ready to hit the ground running,” commented
Emily on her position.
The State Land Office is responsible for administering 9 million acres of surface and 13 million
acres of subsurface estate for the beneficiaries of the state land trust, which includes schools,
universities, hospitals and other important public institutions.
