time at the Mount to help you follow your path to a successful future! Start with the activities
listed under Year 1 and move on from there! Remember to have fun learning where your future

Select courses that interest you and get to know your profs!
Academic Advising can help you plan your program of study.

Attend career workshops: How to Choose a Major, Job Search, Interview Skills, Resume
and Cover Letter Preparation, and more!
Get involved in campus life. Join a society, club, or the Student Union – enjoy your
university experience and gain valuable skills!
Volunteering allows you to make valuable connections and learn skills that will be
marketable to employers. Attend our Volunteer Fair in the Fall to find opportunities!
Start your Co-Curricular Record; find eligible activities at: http://www.msvu.ca/ccrp.
Need $$ while you are studying? Job postings are available on our website.
Begin a resume and portfolio to document your achievements. Visit one of our road
shows for a quick critique, or book a resume appointment with a career assistant.
Get to know yourself and your options. A career counsellor can help you find out how
your interests, skills, values, personality, and work style affect your choices.
Research careers - Our resource library in Evaristus 218 and website can help with this.

Create your LinkedIn profile - Our workshop on Using Social Media to Fast Track your
Job Search will help you with this.
Attend a Drop-In Career Advising session. Visit our website for dates/times.
Research further education requirements for career options you are interested in and
meet with an Academic Advisor to ensure you are taking required courses.
Update your Co-Curricular Record.
Job Shadow - learn whether you will enjoy a particular career. Find people to connect
with through volunteering, attending networking events and LinkedIn.
Attend career building workshops to strengthen your presence in the job market.
Attend career fairs! Practice networking skills while meeting potential future employers!
