Junior/Senior Job Search Checklist Confirm with your advisor that you are on track for completing your graduation requirements. Apply for graduation two semesters prior to completing requirements. Use the Online Career Center in MyJudson to identify internship and employment opportunities, job boards within your field, and open an account in the Online Career Center, ISCPA Career Central at www.iscpa.org. Post your approved resume on the ISCPA website and attend ISCPA Fall Interview Day and the Spring ISCPA CareerFest to apply for internships and jobs. Watch for specific information and announcements about these each semester. Create a LinkedIn Profile. Request to join the Alumni LinkedIn Group on the Judson website. (This can be done as early as freshman year.) Network as much as possible via LinkedIn and attend Network Night during Homecoming. Develop proficiency in writing targeted resumes and cover letters. Keep your Master Resume available and update with each new accomplishment, activity or award as they happen. Explore graduate school options, if that’s a fit for you. Obtain application deadlines and exam dates, if required. Develop a list of 25 employers to proactively research and submit applications for employment. Be sure to get feedback on your targeted resumes and cover letters from the Judson Career Center, professionals in your field or from an HR specialist. Attend career development and job search workshops and participate in community career events and job fairs. Review job postings in MyJudson, ISCPA, jobs boards within your field and within your community. Search the internet for job openings in the geographical area in which you’d like to live using SimplyHired, Indeed, or other job search engines. Ask employers, supervisors, coaches, and others who have seen your work to be references for you, which will be listed on a single sheet with the same heading as you use on your resume. Start a hardcopy or online portfolio which includes artifacts of your accomplishments, activities and awards. You might also ask for “letters of reference” to include as well. Focus on the position titles and employers for whom you’d like to work so you can network your way into a job. Remember, only 15-25% of all job openings ever make it into print. The rest are found through online and face to face networking or referrals from those who know both you and the employer! Let Judson Career Center know when you’ve accepted a job offer or graduate school admission invitation OR complete the Graduation Survey, which can be found in MyJudson—so if you get a job in August, go to MyJudson to fill it out or contact careers@judsonu.edu with the good news! Pray, add new skills and keep learning while exercising faith in God’s promises for your future: Jeremiah 29:11
