Tim Donaldson - Children`s Land Alliance Supporting Schools

Tim Donaldson is the School Children’s Trust Director at the Utah State Office of Education in Salt Lake
City. In that capacity Tim is responsible for independent oversight of the prudent and profitable
management of the 4 million surface and subsurface acres of Utah school and institutional trust lands,
as well as independent oversight on the investment of the $1.65 billion Utah permanent school fund. In
this role the past 6 years Tim has drafted and passed significant legislation and amendments to the Utah
Constitution. Tim attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree
in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Education. Tim is also a licensed attorney, having attended
Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and graduated from Texas Wesleyan School of Law. Tim has authored
articles on the important, rarely understood connections between land policies and education funding.
Tim is currently staffing a School Trust Investment Task Force, created by the Utah State Board of
Education, which is likely to propose significant reforms to the structure, policy, and operations involved
with the investment of the Utah permanent School Fund for the 2014 Utah Legislative Session. Tim is
married to a 1st Grade teacher, and they are raising 3 boys in Sandy, Utah.
