LWCC Associate Pastor, Youth Emphasis Job Description
Part time position, 15-20 hours/week beginning as soon as possible.
Overview: The Associate Pastor provides leadership in the ongoing development and
implementation of ministries for children and youth that fit the vision and goals of the
church. S/he also is involved in serving the needs of the wider church.
Reports to: Coordinating Pastor
Mission: As part of a cooperative pastoral team, the Associate Pastor will carry out the
mission of Living Water Community Church…
…to participate in Christ’s work of reconciliation in our church, neighborhood, and world
....to “feed the sheep,” providing diligent pastoral care to members, attenders, and neighbors
…to preach/teach God’s word to help others follow Jesus and to develop leadership
…to witness to peace and foster familiarity in the church with Mennonite history and theology
Tasks & Responsibilities include:
Youth Ministry






Recruit, train, supervise and support a team of adult volunteers for all ministries
to Jr. and Senior High youth.
Plan and provide primary leadership for youth group meetings, events, retreats,
mission/service experiences, etc.
Establish open communication with parents, including sharing ministry goals,
publicizing events and soliciting feedback and participation.
Provide Pastoral resources to parents and youth, including mentoring and
discipling youth as needed.
Disciple individual youth as needed.
Coordinate Man Night
General Youth Ministry Administration
 Envision strategic goals and plans for youth ministry
 Coordinate/plan youth leadership in worship services.
 Promoting youth ministry and advocating for youth issues within the larger
church body.
 Participate in budgeting process for youth-related ministries.
 Organize youth baptisms (both service & mentoring)
Networking

Establish and maintain relationships with other denominational and youth
ministry organizations as appropriate (such as DOOR, CAM, CeaseFire, Youth
PartnersNET, attending youth conferences, etc.)
Sunday School

Teach Junior or Senior High Sunday School Class.
Vacation Bible School




Participate in VBS program and activities.
Promote and publicize program within the church and neighborhood, including
kick-off and closing events.
Establish open communication with parents and church body.
Follow up with children to integrate them into on-going church programs.
Church-wide Responsibilities




Attend weekly staff meetings.
Participate in LWCC preaching rotation every other month.
Provide pastoral care, covering church-wide needs along with the pastoral team.
Coordinate cell groups.
Qualifications include:






A heart for young people and the ability to build discipling relationships with
them.
A life committed to Jesus Christ.
Three years children/youth ministry experience (urban, multicultural experience a
plus).
Leadership and team-building skills.
Some coursework in youth ministry, the Bible, or Christian education (Bachelor’s
degree a plus). Music/worship and bilingual (Spanish/Khmer/Nepali) skills
would be great.
A willingness to endorse the Mennonite Confession of Faith, which includes
actively witnessing to peace.
Salary:
$11,250 - $15,000
