Executive Board Meeting
January 8, 2014

 Ann Simonelli, Krista Lundberg, Kathryn Clark and Maureen Acquino

 Thank you to all the Executive Board members for all their time, efforts and
contributions to the Washington, D.C. Regional Alumni Chapter and to Susquehanna
University. 2013 was a very good year and 2014 is going to be a great year!
Winter Happy Hour 2014
 Buffalo Billiards
 Thursday, January 29th @ 5:30pm
 Kathryn will get there early to direct alumni to designated area and save some high top
tables at the bar (to the right of the front door).
 Will Devin and/or any SU staff be in attendance?
 Is SU offering to cover appetizers and/or drinks?
 SU will provide swag for a giveaway to those attending the event.
 Send a couple notices about event between now and then. – 2 Facebook posts on 1/15 &
1/27; Linked-In post on 1/9.
“Break Through…to Life After Graduation” Event
 Wednesday, February 5th
 Skype session – “A Survival Guide for Post SU: Fake It Until You Make It”.
 If it is not too late we would like this to the title of our session and promoted/announced
as such by SU.
 Krista and Maureen are going to serve as the organizing committee for this session.
 Krista and Maureen will definitely be attending the session.
 We would like to get at least 1 (or more!) board member(s) to participate.
 Please respond and let us know if you can join the session by this Friday, January 10th.
 In addition to our discussion we would like to provide the students attending a handout to
supplement our skype session. Devin could provide the handout.
 Talking points/agenda/template to be finalized in the next two weeks.
 Can we conduct our skype session with each D.C. person in a different location?
 If not, where are the D.C. people going to meet for the skype session?
College Fairs
 No updates as of new.
Quarterly Newsletter, “Crusader Connections”
 “Crusader Connections” will be sent to alumni on March 15th, June 15th, September 15th
and December 15th in 2014.
SU Serve
 Partner with Hand On D.C.
 Further discussion at our March meeting.
 2013 Lessons Learned – received a lot of questions from alumni regarding to weather
they were registering for the D.C. area specific activity or the SU campus activities.
 There were competing emails promoting the Regional Chapter specific event and the
service activities happening on the SU campus.
 We would like to possibly see SU send one general introduction email to the SU event.
Followed by only Regional Chapter specific emails being sent to the greater D.C. area
alumni. Avoid competing emails to alumni.
Summer 2014 Event Idea
 Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts
 Maureen has a connection there and is going to reach out for group information.
Other Discussion Topics
 As we start a new year, if there are any Board members who would like to step down or
take on a new role on the Board it should be known that you may do so and the
opportunities are present.
 Vice President position is still vacant.
 We can fill the position either internally if a current Board member is interested in a new
role or we can reach out to the D.C. alumni.
 We would like to try and fill this position.
 We can advertise the Vice President position at the Winter Happy Hour if necessary.
Executive Board Retreat
 Willing Board member(s) can host a meeting at their home.
 Occurrence could be twice a year if we like.
 Change of venue, potluck and fun get together for the evening.
 Krista – host in May
 Kathryn – host in November
