SCC Vision Meeting Minutes
September 19, 2013
“SCC seeks to enrich the lives of the entire seminary community
in social, cultural, and spiritual ways”

Executive Committee Members Present: Naomi Leapheart, Garrett Book, Addie Stong, Josh Fitterling,
Kim Kendrick, Amy Carlson, Donte Jones
All Present: N/A





Hiring
o Naomi Leapheart and Garrett Book (and any other SCC member) will be interviewing
tomorrow (Friday, September 19th) from 10am to Noon
o SCC will decide via email (hopefully by Monday)
Emailing All Students
o Judi offered a way that notifications can be posted on SONISWeb.
 The problem is that SONISWeb does not send a notification
Cabinet Meeting Update
o Gender Neutral Bathrooms
 The bathrooms in the basement of Lark will be Gender Neutral
o Library Hours
 Seminary is already considering extended hours and seeing if it is cost effective
o LTS Strategic Plan
 Cabinet would like SCC to review the document and comment
 Will be shared through Google Docs and comments will be made
 Comments should be made September 27th
 Naomi Leapheart will compile comments
Financial Report Analysis
o We would like to have John Folk come in and give an overview of the financial record
keeping
 Addie Stong will reach out to John and see if he can meet on a Thursday in the
near future
 Josh Fitterling will check about room availability with computers once date is set
o Increase LTSO Stipend
 Naomi Leapheart motions that we increase LTSO Stipend from $350 to $500 for
the first semester
 Garrett Book second the motion
 6 yes, 0 no, 1 abstain – Motion carries
Fall & Spring Visioning
o Social

 Cheryl, from the Lilian Grant, would like to offer 3 workshops


 Social Justice Grant Application Overhaul
 Donte Jones and Naomi Leapheart will work on this project
 Book Swap
 At the end of the semester to swap books
 Kim Kendrick and Christina Fidenza will work on this
Professional
 Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms – how to minister at special services
 Barbara Kerschner-Daniel, facilitator
 Aim for October/November
 Naomi Leapheart will offer times and set it up
 Student-Trustee Luncheon
 Chat and Chew for the Spring
 Work with the Board schedule to plan a luncheon with students
 Social Justice Workshop

 Garrett Book and Naomi will work at organizing
 Social Justice Organizing Class
 Garrett Book will be presenting a proposal to the Education and Student

 Preaching Opportunities
 create opportunities where people can preach and get constructive
feedback from peers
Lounge
 There are few places where students can relax
 SCC would like to see if we can reclaim the refectory
 Garrett Book will see what the Gypsy Kitchen Agreement looks like and
what we can and can't do in the refectory

