County Agency – 501(c)(3) Programs
There are several non-profit programs affiliated with County departments or agencies that are eligible to receive
donations from County employees through payroll deduction. This flyer gives you a brief description of the programs that were submitted for this
year.
You may donate to any 501(c)(3) Agency/Program of your choice. The agency/program does not need to be listed in the printed materials. Just
indicate the agency/program in the appropriate Federation or “Donor Choice Plan” section on the pledge form. Write in the amount of your
monthly payroll deduction gift, along with the agency name, donor choice code number, address and phone number. If donating to a donor choice
organization by check, please make check payable to Community Health Charities.

VESTIA is a private-public partnership with EHSD that operates a variety of programs to proved supplemental support to families, children and
individuals associated with EHSD. Programs include: clothing, backpacks, emergency support and holiday assistance. VESTIA also acts as fiscal
agent for divisions of EHSD for donations to restricted funds. Funds may be donated to: VESTIA (for the aforementioned programs), VESTIA/ILSP
(emancipating foster youth), VESTIA/GAVE (General Assistance clients) and VESTIA/CARES (Senior & disabled clients).
Project Second Chance

“Project Second Chance” (PSC), the Contra Costa County Library’s accredited Adult Literacy Program. PSC provides free, confidential, one-onone basic literacy instruction to adults over 16 years old, out of school and conversant in English.
Micki Rainey Scholarship Fund

The Micki Rainey Fund grants scholarships to the children and stepchildren of permanent, honorably retired or deceased employees of the Office of
the Sheriff. The Fund is intended to encourage young people to seek higher education. Since 1987, the Fund has given a total of 220 scholarships for
a total dollar amount of $320,125.00.

The Contra Costa County Fire District Explorer Program is designed for young adults, from 14 to 21 years of age, who are interested in learning
about a career in the Fire Service. The program is a joint venture with Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life. In addition to learning about the
Fire Service, the Explorer program’s main goal is to provide the young adult with a sense of responsibility to their neighborhood through on-going
community related activities.
Contra Costa Regional Health Foundation (CCRHF)

Family Practice Residency Program

The Animal Benefit Fund

The Animal Benefit Fund, established in 1986 by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, allows Animal
Services to accept monetary donations from those who want to help our shelter animals. All funds are used to enhance the care and well-being of
animals in our shelters as well as provide special humane welfare and education programs for the residents of Contra Costa County. It is through
contributions from compassionate individuals that enable us to provide a more nurturing environment for the animals in our care.
Kids At Work
