General PTO Meeting Minutes 12/10/14 at 7:00 PM In attendance: Brian Farrell, Donna Ferreira, Christine Stockhausen Butler, Dawn Adamo, Dore Rogers, Dawn Lehotsky, Lisa Novak, and Ann Cadman 10 members **Celebration to honor Mrs. McGuire** A. Welcome Congratulations to Mrs. Mc Guire on her retirement. B. Co-President’s Report – Donna Ferreira & Christine Stockhausen Butler PIC meeting was cancelled this month & Board of Ed meeting is still coming up. The Presidents’ Council (For presidents of all Middletown school PTO’s) will have its first meeting next month. Donna Ferreira & Christine Stockhausen Butler will be participating on Fairview’s behalf. Thank you to many for their help. Thank you Lynn Schaller for helping with Houlihan’s Night Out. Thank you Justine Kane, Dawn, and Dawn for helping with the Holiday Shoppe. Thank you to Ravi for working on the web site. C. Approval of November Meeting Minutes- Minutes were unanimously approved. D. Principal’s Report – Brian Farrell The lunch situation recently was rough. Unfortunately, Mr. Farrell was out of the building that day. The lunch employees and principal have met about this and sent out the policy. Letters will be mailed when balances are low. School will attempt to also call parents when there is a negative balance- if possible. Teachers will prepare students for the cheese sandwich lunch (when their account is negative). Please refer to the published policy. E. Treasurer’s Report - Lisa Novak Refer to Budget page handed out. Lisa pointed out that that the Holiday Shoppe numbers are not final yet. F. Committee Reports- Dawn Adamo A lot of great things are happening. We are working on Science Night. Great turn out at Holiday Shoppe- Sign Up Genius worked! G. Assemblies & Student Activities- Donna Ferreira gave the report as Christine Sherlock was absent. Hero Dogs is coming up. Reptile Guy will be in April. There will be 2 author visits. The first author (for grades 3-5) will be Chris Grabenstein on March 13. The other author (for grades K-2) is in progress. Monday Feb 23rd Barnes & Noble and Cheeburger Cheeburger fundraiser. H. Fundraising- Dawn Lehotsky Popcorn sales were great! Holiday Shoppe vendor gave us a gift card that we are donating to the family who suffered the fire in Leonardo. We need to reschedule the Jersey Mike’s fundraiser. The Alex + Ani fundraiser and Surf Taco fundraiser are coming up. Feb. 4th Skate Night at Ice World 5:45-7:15pm. I. Communications- Dore Rogers Ravi has the website up. On the bottom is a link for email addresses. We are looking into possibly using The Patch and The Journal to promote our events. A parent informed us the District website is still connected to an old Fairview website. We will look into having that removed. J. Secretary- Ann Cadman Spirit Day 12/19- Holiday Sweater/ Spirit Wear Next PTO Meeting on 1/20 at 1:30 K. Unfinished Business Scrips- Christine Stockhausen Butler- Nutswamp made $23,000 in 3 years with the Scripps program. Gift card orders are due tomorrow. They will be delivered by the 19 th. We will be placing orders on a monthly basis. A parent asked if we can pay by credit card. No. You can order online, but need to pay by electronic check or a check sent into school. Play- It will be Peter Pan. Initial forms went home. Approximately 80 forms have been returned. It looks like the 3rd graders will be in the play. There will be staggered auditions. They will let us know when the parent meetings are. L. New Business School Spirit Committee’s Adopt-A-Family collection is low on donations. Toys For Tots due by 12/15. Science Night- Dawn Adamo- Megan Dwzonkowski is chairing it. Her sister-in-law is a professor at Kean College. They’d like to volunteer to help out with this night event for all grades. Pocket Book Bingo- We are finalizing a date. (Possibly 4/17) We will have a planning meeting in January. M. Announcements (Including date and time of next meeting) The next PTO Meeting will be January 20th at 1:30. N. Comments and Questions Several parents addressed Mr Farrell. They miss the monthly paper copies of the school calendar. Mr. Farrell said he would look into it. O. Adjournment- Meeting adjourned at 7:57.
