Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Position
Description
Commitment
Volunteering With Youth
Youth Tutor
Tutor 1-on-1 with a K-8 child to help
improve school performance.
One hour weekly.
Tuesday, Wednesday or
Thursday late afternoons.
Children’s Activities
Interact with children while parents attend
Solid Ground programming.
Minimum of four hours
monthly. Shifts vary.
Preschool Prep
Spend the summer learning with East
Metro Place’s youngest residents.
Once weekly throughout the
summer season.
Volunteering With Adults
Adult Tutor
Help adults and/or older teens 1-on-1 or in
a group setting.
One or more hours weekly.
Shifts vary.
Job Development
Assistant
Help residents prepare cover letters,
improve interview skills and job search.
Once weekly.
Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Computer
Training/Support
Help with residents basic computer skills.
Occasional.
Additional Opportunities
Office Assistant
Help answer phones & perform other work
in the office at East Metro Place.
Two or more hours weekly.
Shifts available weekdays.
Facility Assistant
Help East Metro Place look its best by
performing basic maintenance and/or
cleaning.
Occasional.
Help plan or support Solid Ground events
including fundraisers and special family
activities.
Occasional.
Drivers
Assist families in need of transportation to
the food shelf, Cub Foods, Goodwill and
to St. Andrew’s Church for a free dinner.
At least once monthly for a
minimum of one year.
Shifts vary.
Movers
Assist families with moving in and moving
out of East Metro Place. May also include
picking up or delivering furniture items.
