SUMMARY OF JOB SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES
One of the goals in the Cutting-Edge program is to support social inclusion activities on and off campus.
The Cutting-Edge Community Engagement Student Worker connects Cutting-Edge students, who are
either on or near campus, to activities and events that occur on the weekends. This position would
involve assisting students with advance planning, developing social relationships, and managing
logistics of students getting to the events. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment
to promoting diversity and inclusion on campus and serve as an ambassador of the program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Cutting-Edge Community Engagement Student Worker coordinates student supports while at the
same time strives to empower the students to make responsible decisions, and determine their own
goals for independence. Responsibilities include:
1. Assist the Program Coordinator in program implementation
2. Facilitates student engagement on campus and in the Madison community
3. Coordinates student schedules, weekend activities, transportation
4. Teaches students where to find weekend events and to plan ahead
5. Counsels students in conflict resolution
6. Additional duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Education or Work Experience:
 No prior degree required
 Excellent oral and written communication skills
 Excellent organizational skills
 Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Required Technology Skills:
 Ability to use online applications for student projects and events
 Ability to incorporate assistive technology into the program
 Ability to access and enter information in the KO software record keeping

The candidate must actively support the mission of the college by working with faculty, staff and

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
This position requires personnel to work in a shared office environment that provides student support
services either by appointment or on a walk-in basis. The personnel need to be able to work in a busy
work environment and needs to be able to adapt to daily schedule changes. Occasional lifting of 10-15
lbs. This position requires personnel to navigate around the college campus and in the Madison
community.
