Welcome back to Further Maths. The Mathematics Department is committed to ensuring that you
make good progress throughout your AS level course. We hope that you will continue to use every
opportunity for support and keep enjoying the course.
ORGANISATION
Keep the worksheets, homework and assessments in a file
+ BOOK SCRUTINY
You will be asked to hand this in/bring it along to a progress interview with
your teacher or the 6th form office during the year
TEXTBOOKS
Resources are available in the Learning Centre, but if you wish to use
textbooks at home for homework and revision, then we recommend that you
use the course textbooks:
Pearson Modular Mathematics for Edexcel AS and A-level, Statistics 2
Pearson Modular Mathematics for Edexcel AS and A-level, Further Pure 2
Pearson Modular Mathematics for Edexcel AS and A-level, Mechanics 2
For free electronic versions of these use (linked from the department website)
Dropbox.com
CALCULATOR
The recommended calculator for the course is the Casio FX 85GT PLUS. If you
wish to use a graphical calculator, make sure it is an approved one for exams
ATTENDANCE
We expect maximum attendance. Should you be unable to attend a lesson,
for whatever reason, you MUST catch up on the work missed. This is your
responsibility though your teachers will of course endeavour to help you. You
will need to copy someone else’s notes and find out what exercises have
been set. Where possible this should be done before the next lesson having
seen your teacher as well.
SUPPORT
Please use the drop in session every week on Tuesdays: 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
