(Bob Jones) Spelling: Spelling, Vocabulary & Poetry 6 (Abeka) History: Heritage Studies 6, 3rd ed. (Bob Jones) Seventh Grade – Language Arts: English 7 Writing and Grammar, 3rd ed. (Bob Jones) Spelling: Spelling, Vocabulary, & Poetry 7 (Abeka) History: World Studies, 3rd ed. (Bob Jones) Eighth Grade – Language Arts: English 8 Writing and Grammar, 3rd ed. (Bob Jones) Spelling: Spelling, Vocabulary & Poetry 8 (Abeka) History: American Republic, 3rd ed. (Bob Jones) Homework Policy: - Students will have homework as a means of reinforcing concepts and exploring new things on their own. - Students may not always have homework but when they do it is due the following day unless otherwise stated. - Students are to write their homework in their agenda and for the parents benefit it can be found online in Renweb. - Some homework assignments are graded for completion and some are graded for accuracy. - The late policy for homework is as follows: 1st day – 15 points off overall grade 2nd day – 30 points off overall grade 3rd day – highest grade will be a 50 After the 3rd day, homework will not be accepted and the grade will be a 0. Extra Credit – Spelling: Students may write words 3 times each and turn in with spelling tests for an additional 5 points to their test grade. They may also correctly write their vocab words in a complete sentence to receive 5 more points making it a total of 10 extra points that they can add to their spelling test. Language Arts/History – Students will have at least one extra credit opportunities offered to them, any more opportunities will be at my discretion. Absences – - if a student is absent they will have the number of days they missed to make up their assignments. For example if a student misses 2 days of school, they will have 2 days to make up the work beginning their first day back. - If you know ahead of time that your student will be out, please have them complete their assignments ahead of time or at least take the assignments to do and return the day the student returns. - If a student is absent on a test day, they will be expected to make up the test the day they return. - If a student is absent, but comes back on the test day they may either take the test or have extra days to prepare based upon how many days the student was absent. Tests and Quizzes – - There is a spelling test every Friday unless otherwise specified. - 7th and 8th grade Language Arts will have a test every Friday unless otherwise specified. - History tests will be given at the end of each chapter. - 6th grade history will have at least 2 quizzes per chapter - 7th and 8th grade will have section quizzes and their Current Event assignment will count as a quiz grade. Current Events – Current Event assignments are due every other Friday. Your student may or may not get to present the article they have chosen based on time. This is part of your student’s history grade. The student need to pick an article that is at least 300 words from a newspaper, news magazine, or website. The current event may only be from the current week or the prior week. Articles that are older are no longer “current.” After reading the article, complete the questions. Make sure the bibliographic information is on the paper. Questions – All work must be completed in complete sentences unless otherwise stated. This is to help the student have a study aid to prepare for the chapter test. All turned in work must have the proper heading.
