(Jan. 23, 2014)—Experience the beauty and charm of the Greek Islands without leaving the Eastern Shore! Annie’s Paramount Steak and Seafood House in Grasonville is the Greek-inspired setting for the Hospice of Queen Anne’s 11th Annual Gala. The event takes place on Friday, March 7 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. and features cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, a seated dinner of lobster tail and steak, dancing to the live music of the entertaining Retrospect, and exciting live and silent auction items! An exquisite jewelry raffle is also on tap for 100 fortunate individuals. With a $100 purchase, a ticket holder will have a chance to win either an elegant ladies diamond ring, a stunning diamond bracelet, or a pair of diamond hoop earrings all donated by Paula’s Fine Jewelry in Chester. The drawing will take place at the Hospice Gala and the winner need not be present to win. A popular, encore live auction item is the authentic “Greek banquet for ten,” created and prepared by Chef Irene “Yia Yia” Magafan who was born in a small village on the island of Cephalonia. Magafan’s daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Pete Pappas of Centreville host the event in their home. Magafan prepares all of the dishes fresh, from scratch. Also included with the banquet is a selection of Greek wines for pairing with the various courses. A previous winning bidder of the Greek banquet said, “The evening was an absolute ball. Yia Yia prepared a truly memorable Greek dinner, and the Pappas’ went all out for our party of ten!” A vacation to the Bahamas, a trip to Chicago, and a catered party for 50 are also on the auction block that evening, in addition to more than 25 exciting silent auction items. Sponsorships for special events like the Hospice Gala are a great way to support the work of Hospice of Queen Anne’s. They rely upon the generosity of businesses and individuals to continue their mission of caring for the seriously ill and grieving individuals on the Eastern Shore. Last year, community support made it possible to offset $168,855 in under-funded room and board expenses in the Hospice Center and $124,571 of the non-reimbursed grief care programs and services. Hospice of Queen Anne’s continues to provide care based solely on need, regardless of a person’s financial situation. Don’t miss out on this special evening! Event tickets are $175 each and need to be purchased prior to the event, as they will not be available at the door.
