Description: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary
work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

The Manager, Business Informatics, is responsible for creating informatics solutions to meet
business and data needs in a timely and effective manner, including the development of
queries and databases that work in conjunction with enterprise resource planning systems
(ERP). The position works with IT to design an appropriate data warehouse for operational
reporting and decision support and to create ‘extract, transform and load’ (ETL) processes to
import data from Workday into the campus data warehouse. The Manager develops
department expertise to create business efficiencies deploying best practice Information
Systems technologies, especially with respect to improving business operations and meeting
data needs.

60% - Informatics
 Understand data elements and structures of the student, Human Resources and
Finance ERP for the purposes of leading functional development of the University’s data
warehouse
 Identify and pursue ways to use the ERP to improve business operations
 Provide technical and functional support during implementation and roll out to human
resource, finance and budget teams
 Provide security recommendations
 Support the data conversion process including developing crosswalks, mapping fields
and identifying strategies and options to upload and retrieve data
 Design dashboards and queries that are easily accessible and used by the campus in
data-driven decision-making
 Coordinate data definitions with Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions
and the University’s Office of Institutional Analysis to ensure consistency of data
reporting and analysis




Assist users in developing requirements
Develop new databases, automated processes and/or applications to support HR
business functions and train users on how to use the tools
Develop user training and documentation to support the applications
Troubleshoot problems and coordinate technical issues with IT
20% - Technical Project Coordination
 Provide technical support to other Human Resource applications which may include the
Contract Budget Entry and other applications
 Complete assigned tasks related to Workday implementation and support
 Develop requirements and provide coordination of projects for finance and budget
 Align data, policies, workflows and information systems
10% - Reporting and Data Analysis
 Complete complex reporting requests for the President’s Office, Board of Regents and
Legislative requests
 Develop methodology to address request and documentation
 Identify data issues and present suggestions for improvements
 Problem-solve and facilitate group input to support external requests
10% - Staff Mentoring and Development
 Plan and facilitate bi-monthly data meetings and share information with departmental
staff across functional areas including pay administration, benefits, classification, etc.
 Manage direct reports and mentor others to improve technical knowledge of the
department
 Develop documentation to sustain business operations
3. Describe the types of decisions the position(s) make independently as part of the core

The position will make decisions about how to build a data warehouse that supports the campus
needs for historical data and for some time period, integrate Workday data. The position will
make recommendations on business processes that improve efficiencies and security
considerations. The Analyst will be a key participant in early planning and training, throughout
the implementation and post go-live to support a successful transition and provide functional
expertise to the Information Technology staff responsible for the data warehouse. The position
will conceptualize and implement complex data requests while determining methods to best
mentor more junior data analysts.

The Manager will approach iNtegrate 2 campus leaders with concerns and recommendations.
The positon will collaborate with the supervisor on any issues impacting the successful planning
or implementation of the new system, data requests requiring complex integrations or
precedent-setting rule interpretation, and any performance issues with direct reports.
