2 October 2015 Dear Parent / Carer Year 7 trip to the First World War battlefields at Ypres, 13-15 July 2016 I should like to inform you of an exciting opportunity for your child to take part in the Ridgeway High School Year 7 trip to the First World War battlefields at Ypres in July 2016. As the trip will take place during curriculum time, we are intending to take the whole year group. The trip will give students an invaluable opportunity to gather primary evidence of the First World War, which they will then be able to use in school. On a lighter note, there will also be an opportunity to sample the delights of a chocolate factory in the centre of Ypres town! The itinerary will be as follows: Depart Ridgeway at approximately 9pm on Wednesday 13 July Overnight travel by coach to Dover Scheduled crossing Dover – Dunkirk, 6am on Thursday 14 July Thursday spent visiting sites of historical significance in Ypres Overnight stay in a hotel in Ypres town Friday morning visit to the Menin Gate and to an authentic chocolatier Depart midday Friday Arrive Ridgeway at approximately 10pm on Friday 15 July As the trip includes a curriculum element, Mr Taylor has sought permission from the Governors to part-fund the visit. I am delighted, therefore, to be able to offer the trip at the subsidised rate of approximately £110 per student. The exact final price will be confirmed when we have a clearer idea of numbers. The price will include ALL of the following: The cost of the group passport application Return transport on an executive coach and ferry crossings One night in a hotel in Ypres town A day at the First World War memorial sites A visit to an authentic chocolatier Three meals (evening meal, Thurs 14 July, breakfast and a packed lunch Fri 15 July) As the trip is still some months away, you will be able to pay for the trip in small instalments should you wish. I have suggested a payment plan below. However, should you wish to pay for the trip in one single instalment, this would also be acceptable. Payment: £10.00 £20.00 £10.00 £20.00 Week ending: October 2015 November 2015 December 2015 January 2016 Payment: £10.00 £20.00 £10.00 £10.00 Week ending: February 2016 March 2016 April 2016 May 2016 We will be using ParentPay, our online payment system, to pay for the trip. This barcode can be taken to any PayPoint outlet, where the retailer will scan the barcode and payments towards the trip can be made.
