APHL Informatics Self-Assessment Tool Training & Demonstration Dear Members, Coming July 2015, APHL will launch the Informatics Self-Assessment Tool; a web-based application created for public health laboratories (PHLs) designed to assess their Informatics capabilities. Driving towards sustainable laboratory practices, this application is the brainchild of a collaborative effort between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and APHL under the Laboratory Efficiency Initiative (LEI) project. Developed as the ‘gold standard’ for laboratory informatics best practices; this application measures the laboratories maturity against nationally recognized benchmarks and standards. Key features of the Informatics Self-Assessment tool: The tool will assess your laboratories current informatics capability, measure gaps from an enterprise wide and individual lab domain perspective. The tool will provide guidance on key informatics laboratory processes and efficiencies allowing PHLs to measure and improve their operational maturity over time. The tool gives PHL professionals the ability to identify, plan and prioritize the use of existing resources; document and communicate these priorities to policy makers and monitor current informatics capabilities on an ongoing basis. The application will also offer a suite of data visualization tools providing a comprehensive view of the laboratories self-assessment data! Users will be able to compare and visualize data in a variety of ways on the national, regional, local and organization level; identifying trends and areas of improvement. We will hold a training and demonstration of this exciting new application on June 30 from 2:00-3:00pm ET. You can register for this event here: Informatics Self-Assessment Tool Training Registration. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation letter with additional details on the event.
