During the visit children will mix with pupils from other local schools. There will be a wide range of activities on offer in the ICT, music and language departments. Transport has been arranged and the children should come to school as normal before being taken to IRA by bus at 9:30am. Head Lice Unfortunately, we have had several reports that nits and head lice are a problem in the school at the moment. I would ask all of you to check everyone in the family at the weekend so that we can reduce, if not eliminate, this pesky critter! If you need any advice or support you can contact the school nurse on 01294 272802. Benefits of drinking water Water is vital to our health and wellbeing and lack of water can impact upon a child’s ability to perform to his/her full potential. Children can have other drinks for their packed lunch but only water in class. Your child can bring in a bottle of water if they wish. After School Clubs This term we have run a number of after school activities for a variety of age groups. Primary 6 and 7 have a great deal of fun from 3pm until 4pm each Wednesday at Scripture Union. We are delighted to welcome back four former pupils who are running a badminton club for P4-7. Des Wilson, Conor Leishman, Declan Mackie and Ross Dow are leading the club from 3pm until 4pm every Thursday with Mrs Richmond overseeing the running of the activities. Mrs Fisher has started a running club from 3pm until 4pm every Wednesday. Kirsty Armstrong recently won a 3rd place medal in the P5 Girls Schools Cross Country 1000m race. Parents Group The Parents Group have been working hard to organise fundraising activities to benefit our school. Thanks to their dedication they have raised over £1000 so far which will go towards improving our school playground. Due to their recent success, the Parents Group are planning further fundraising activities including bag packing at Asda. The Parents Group runs from 3pm until 4pm every Thursday and everyone is welcome. A crèche is provided and under 3s are welcome as long as numbers allow. Relaxation techniques will be the focus of the sessions over the coming weeks. If you wish any further information please contact Miss McAteer. School Holiday Activity and Lunch Club North Ayrshire Council are trialling a new initiative which allows the school to be open for lunch over the October break. The school will be open from 11am until 1pm for lunch and activities from Monday 13th October until Friday 17th October. A separate letter with information about this scheme will be issued imminently.
