GC-HEAT CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP (CES) There will be a Scholarship Raffle Drawing for at least 2 – $500 (minimum) Continuing Education Scholarships (CES) at the annual GC-HEAT Year End Party. Here are the details: (Please also see General Benefits of GC-HEAT Membership...and...Membership Involvement Categories/Benefits) INTENT OF THE CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS (CES) These CES Scholarships are intended to encourage GC-HEAT Homeschooled athletes to continue their participation in home school athletics...and...their personal educational pursuits after they graduate from high school. Our intent is to assist these students with any appropriately related expenses. These CES Scholarships can be applied to any additional certifiable educational training or expenses of almost any kind (all traditional public or private universities or colleges, trade schools, community colleges, and/or a broad range of other special interest additional training options). The intent is to be inclusive, and any unanticipated borderline situations will be resolved by the then presiding GC-HEAT leadership Committee! These CES Scholarships are specifically NOT for ongoing, current pre-high school graduation educational expenses...and/or...for any other personal, non-continuing institutional educational purposes (i.e., cars, computers, musical instruments etc.) ONLY STUDENT/ATHLETES FROM GC-HEAT MEMBER FAMILIES ARE ELIGIBLE TO WIN A CES SCHOLARSHIP? Here are the details: All GC-HEAT Membership Fees and/or Player Participation Fees MUST be fully paid by 5:00 p. m. on the day before the Year End Party to qualify for any CES Scholarship. Gold GC-HEAT Member Families will get 2 Raffle Entries for each CES Scholarship raffle drawing. Gold GC-HEAT Member Families will get 1 additional Raffle Entry for each additional fully paid GCHEAT athlete in their family. Bronze GC-HEAT Member Families will get 1 Raffle Entry for each CES Scholarship raffle drawing. If there are multiple GC-HEAT players in the family of a scholarship winner, the parents will make the appropriate decision regarding which of their children will win the scholarship The GC-HEAT player (or a family member) MUST be in attendance at Year End Party...at the time of the drawing(s)...to qualify as a CES Scholarship Winner. There can only be 1 CES Scholarship winner in a family at the Year End Party. If there is a double winner, another replacement drawing will follow immediately. Winners of CES Scholarships can be any currently active GC-HEAT middle school through high school home schooled athlete. Any current GC-HEAT player who is the winner of a CES Scholarship is eligible to receive their CES Scholarship even if he/she is not being homeschooled when they graduate from high school. TO WHOM/AND WHEN WILL THE CES SCHOLARSHIPS BE DISBURSED The CES Scholarships will be paid directly to the Admissions Department of the chosen and accredited educational institution (F/B/O the winning student’s name and SID#) upon the presentation of a bona fide institutional invoice to GC-HEAT. The CES Scholarship will have an expiration date beyond which it will not be honored. That termination date is January 15th of the year following the player’s graduation from high school. CES SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNTS The CES Scholarship amount(s) will be either $500 or $750. - $500 if the winner does not graduate from high school as a homeschooler - $750 if the winner graduates from high school as a homeschooler For current CES Scholarship Winners who are not graduating from high school in the year in which they won the Raffle Drawing, the current GC-HEAT Leadership Committee (and any future GC-HEAT leaders) will covenant to preserve and/or escrow (until the appropriate time of disbursement) the appropriate amounts of any CES Scholarship grants (that are won but not paid out immediately). These amounts will be treated as a contingent liability on the GC-HEAT Balance Sheet.
