YEAR 8 LEARNERS Options Information moving into Year 9
In Years 9, 10 and 11 you will all study the following compulsory subjects:

You will all take four lessons of English. You will all study GCSE English Language and
GCSE English Literature.

You will all take three lessons of GCSE Maths.

You will all take a minimum of four lessons of GCSE Combined Science.

If you opt for Triple Science, (GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry and GCSE Physics) you will
take six lessons of Science.

You will all take two lessons of PE. You will study for a qualification that will be completed
at the end of Year 11.

You will all take one lesson of Social Studies. (This is a non qualification subject).
You can all choose three optional subjects that you will study for the next three years:

You will have three options to select (each option is studied for two lessons per week).

For option block A you will need to select two of the subjects. Please order these 1 and 2 with
1 being your top choice. You will be allocated one subject from this block.

For option block B please select four subjects you would like to study. Please order these 1 to
4 with 1 being your top choice and 4 being your least favourite. You will be allocated two
subjects from this option block.

We cannot guarantee all option subjects will run; if too few students opt then a subject may
not run.

