2015 Season The Top 100 Attractions in Germany: Europa-Park in Pole Position For the fourth year, the German National Tourist Board (Deutsche Zentrale für Tourismus – DZT) has determined the most popular attractions in Germany in an online survey of travellers from over 40 countries. This year, Germany’s largest leisure park came out in front! Ahead of Neuschwanstein Castle and Cologne Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Europa-Park was the most sought after holiday destination in Germany among foreign tourists. No other leisure park was otherwise ranked within the top 35 places. The result of the by now fourth online survey of the 100 most popular attractions, which was carried out by the German National Tourist Board between October 2014 and May 2015, is clear: Europa-Park is number one! The previous winner, Neuschwanstein Castle, has had to vacate first place. The world’s largest travel website, TripAdvisor, has just presented the Travellers’ Choice Awards for leisure parks again and Germany’s largest leisure park was also able to score the top spot in Europe. Europa-Park, with more than 100 attractions and shows, as well as 13 European themed areas, is celebrating its 40th birthday this year. The park’s five 4-star themed hotels make the leisure park a unique mini-break destination. Last season, over five million people visited the world’s largest seasonal leisure park. “We are very proud that Europa-Park is appreciated by our visitors as the most popular mini-break destination in Europe. The satisfaction of all our guests is always our priority and this fantastic result shows that we are on the right track!” said Roland Mack, owner of EuropaPark. Among the top 100 chosen by visitors to Germany were famous buildings, historical places, natural landscapes, sporting venues and leisure parks, as well as occasions and events steeped in tradition. The online survey’s ranking is published online at www.germany.travel/top100 and is available as an update in the DZT App “Deutschland TOP 100”. This mobile application offers quick access to interesting facts on all 100 attractions either via a list or on an interactive map: short description, information on accessibility, ticket prices, opening times, how to get there by car or by public transport, links and tips on additional tourist highlights in the surrounding area.
