Make your own unique gifts at the Old Fire Station this Christmas
Workshops with designer-makers as part of Christmas Making Space
Always fancied giving a homemade Christmas gift but weren’t sure what to make? Come along and try
your hand at making your own Christmas decorations and fabric jewellery this November and
December, as part of The Old Fire Station’s Christmas Making Space exhibition.
Make an origami Christmas decoration with Miesje Chafer or decorate a porcelain bauble with your
choice of transfers with ceramicist Kina Gorksa. If decorations aren’t your thing, local jewellery
designer Anabelle Lou will be running a jewellery making workshop using a range of recycled fabrics.
The Meet the Maker workshops are designed as part of the Making Space programme, which aims to
open up the making process and encourage people to get involved through workshops, talks and
demonstrations.
These workshops accompany Gallery exhibition Christmas Making Space, a showcase of the very best
in contemporary UK craft and design. It features three designer-makers who sell at Shop at the Old
Fire Station: Kina Ceramic Design, Miesje Chafer and the Compartment Store.
There will be an extended display of their work, including specially-commissioned pieces and neverseen-before exclusives. They will also be sharing their ‘making space’ with us, revealing their design
and making process.
So, whether you want to get making yourself or just want to find out more, come along to the Old Fire
Station this Christmas.
