ELECTION GUIDELINES
FACULTY COUNCIL:
Chair-elect:
The Chair-Elect of Faculty Council will be elected each year by a school-wide vote prior
to election of other members. Faculty eligible for election are Associate and Full
Professors with tenure in the Curry School who are not currently serving as Department
Chairs, members of the Dean’s staff, or members of the Faculty Council. The Chair-Elect
serves a two-year term; one year as Chair-Elect, then one year as Chair.
At-large members:
There are no longer at-large representatives for the ranks of Associate and Full Professor
because all members of Faculty Council other than the At-Large Representative for
Assistant Professors are at the Associate or Full Rank. There will continue to be a schoolwide election for one representative at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track or
general faculty.
Departmental members:
The Department Representatives must be faculty holding the rank of Associate or Full
professor, tenure-track or general faculty.
FACULTY SENATE:
Curry has three representatives to the Faculty Senate. Faculty Council runs the elections
for Faculty Senate each spring as needed. All general and tenure-track faculty are
eligible.
Current Faculty senators:
Dan Hallahan - term ends May 2014
Joe Garofalo - term ends May 2015
Paige Pullen - term ends May 2015
PROMOTIONS & TENURE
The Curry Promotions Committee consists of seven full-time tenured faculty members,
excluding Department Chairs, the Dean, and Assistant/Associate Deans. A school-wide
election, run by Faculty Council, is held in the spring of each year to select up to three
members, one to represent each department, who serve staggered three-year terms. Those
eligible to vote are full-time, tenure-track faculty members. The newly-elected member
will be notified of the election results by the Chair-Elect of Faculty Council immediately
following the balloted election. The Dean annually appoints the other four members of
the committee. The Dean annually appoints the Chair of the committee who serves for
one year. Appointed members are eligible for reappointment.
OBTAINING LISTS OF FACULTY FOR ELECTIONS
Two sets of lists need to be obtained for each elected position: those faculty members
eligible to stand for election and those faculty members eligible to vote. Faculty members
who are eligible to serve and vote are outlined in this document as well as in the
Governance Document. Lists can be obtained from Human Resources or Department
Chairs, depending on what is needed. Lists should be checked for accuracy.
