This waiver is valid for only 12 months.
U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident
A nonresident student can be considered for this waiver under the following conditions: Relocation to the state
must be to accept full-time, self-sustaining employment and not for the purpose of enrolling in an institution
of higher education.
As of the first day of classes, an economic advantage waiver may be granted to the following students:
- An independent student who has relocated to the State of Georgia to accept full-time, self-sustaining
employment and has established legal domicile in the State of Georgia.

A dependent student who can provide clear evidence that their parent, spouse, or U.S. court-appointed
legal guardian has relocated to the State of Georgia to accept full-time, self- sustaining employment
and has established legal domicile in the State of Georgia.
For U.S. citizens or U.S. legal permanent residents, this waiver will expire 12 months from the date the waiver is granted.

Submission of the following documentation does not guarantee eligibility for a Waiver of Non-Resident Fees. ALL supporting documents
must be included with the application for Waiver. Failure to submit all documents may result in an unfavorable decision.
A. Independent or Married Student must include:
 Statement from the Employer’s Human Resources Department on company letterhead verifying:
o Employee’s name and address
o Full-time employment
o Employment start date
 Copy of the employee’s most current pay stub.

Copy of lease agreement or warranty deed in Georgia for the student. If the lease/deed is not in your name, submit the
lease/deed and a notarized statement from the person who is on the lease/deed stating you do/did in fact live with him/her and
for how long you have/had continuously resided with this person.
 Copy of Georgia driver’s license or state-issued ID issued after January 1, 2008
 Copy of vehicle registration in Georgia
Additionally, if you are using your spouse’s employment to qualify:

If you are a Permanent Resident, Refugee, Asylee, or other documented, eligible non-citizen according to the U.S.
Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, you must also submit:
 Your Permanent Resident Alien Card or documents to validate the immigration status.
Note: Our office must make a copy of the original Permanent Resident Alien Card or the documents to validate the
immigration status upon submitting your petition.
B. Dependent Student must include:
 Statement from the parent/guardian/spouse’s Employer’s Human Resources Department on company letterhead

o Employee’s name and address
o Full-time employment
o Employment start date
 Copy of the parent/guardian/spouse’s most current pay stub.
 Copy of lease agreement or warranty deed in Georgia
 Copy of Georgia driver’s license or state-issued ID issued after January 1, 2008

 One of the following (depending on situation):
o If you are a dependent of a parent or guardian, either Birth certificate or U.S. court documentation of
guardianship
o If you are married, a copy of your marriage certificate
If you are a Permanent Resident, Refugee, Asylee, or other documented, eligible non-citizen according to the U.S.
Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, you must also submit:
 Your Permanent Resident Alien Card or documents to validate the immigration status.
 If your spouse, parent, or U.S. court-appointed legal guardian, or spouse’s (if not a U.S. citizen) Permanent Resident
Alien Card or documents to validate the immigration status
Note: Our office must make a copy of the original Permanent Resident Alien Card or the documents to validate the
immigration status upon submitting your petition.
All documents submitted become the property of Georgia State University and cannot be returned. Please submit copies, not original documents.
I understand that any material false statement made knowingly and willingly by me on this application, or any documents attached hereto may, in
accordance with O.C.G.A. 16-10-71, which provides that upon conviction, a person who knowingly commits the offense of false swearing shall be
punished by a fine of not more than $1,000 or by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than five years, or both, subject me to prosecution in a
court of law. Additionally, I further understand that any such false statement may subject me to immediate dismissal from the institution.
Furthermore, I authorize Georgia State University to review or examine any documents and records, including my confidential loan forms and related
data, which may assist in clarifying my eligibility for a Waiver of Non Resident Fees. I understand that I must notify Georgia State University
immediately if my parent/guardian or spouse is assigned employment outside the State of Georgia. I also understand this waiver, if approved, is valid
for 12 months and I must submit a Petition for Georgia Tuition Classification once this waiver expires. Non-citizen students must provide

documentation of their current and valid visa and immigration status annually. If my visa expires during the academic year, I will provide
documentation to verify my current and updated visa and immigration documentation to the office prior to my next term of enrollment.
