Do you want strong, healthy relationships with your children, with all the support, discipline skills and information you could have for living out your calling from God? Explore some real solutions in this Education for Parenting workshop. We will address some practical strategies, proven to work, about why, when and how to use discipline strategies. Come join us to learn these effective methods and practice them, too. We use presentations, videos and practice opportunities in every session. The difference between discipline and punishment 2. Importance of clear messages 3. Consequences: Using natural consequences, both positive and negative, to help shape behavior 4. Explanation of workshop term: “child-oriented reason” – giving children reasons to do or not do something according to their age level SESSION 2: Skill of using “Effective Praise” – noticing the behavior that you want to see in your child, and reinforcing it SESSION 3: Skill of “Preventive Teaching” – teaching your child how to handle him/herself in situations that arise SESSION 4: Skill of “Corrective Teaching” – stopping behavior that is not correct, giving a consequence, and teaching correct behavior SESSION 5: Skill of “Teaching Self-Control” – How to stay calm; how to teach your child to stay calm SESSION 6: Social Skills - putting it all together (family meetings, etc.) (TURN OVER FOR MORE INFORMATION)
