Summary of Topics: Legal Collections Presentation by Bessine Walterbach, LLP Truths & Myths About How Lawsuits Really Work in Missouri & Kansas. This presentation will discuss about how cases get to the point of requiring legal action, what we do to move cases through the system, & address common misconceptions about how it works in a truth / myth guess-the-answer format. It will also touch briefly on bankruptcies, worker’s compensation claims, probate claims, etc. from a creditor’s perspective. Price Transparency Presentation by PwC This session will be a detailed discussion of the recent HFM Article on price transparency published in May 2015. Initially, we will discuss the results of PwC’s 2o15 Touchstone Employer survey outlining the substantial increase in high-deductible health plans (HDHPs) nationally and how these benefit changes are affecting providers and resulting in increases in bad debt as well as a need for increased pricing transparency. Our team interviewed senior leadership at a number of large hospitals throughout the nation regarding how they are responding to the community and legislative pressure for increased price transparency along with patient satisfaction to pull patient volume to their facilities. We will discuss the outcomes of these interviews with a focus on how these providers are taking action prior to service in the pre-processing environment, providing healthcare estimates prior to service, adjusting charge description master, and/or addressing legislative requirements pushing pricing transparency requirements. In addition, there will be discussion on how providers and payors are collaborating (or not) in these markets to change utilization patterns and drive patients to lower cost facilities. Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement model, Bundled Payments by Cerner This presentation will cover the CMS Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) model detail and background. We will discuss the potential financial impact on local hospitals and how to prepare your organization to be successful when this become effective.
