Proposal Circuit Breakers By: Andrew Saunders Proposal to buy a machine that will remove paint, clean, and repaint Materials that are going to be sent to customers Summary Circuit breakers is a company that makes, repairs, and maintains circuit breakers for customers. It will be cheaper for the company to implement a new system for paint removal, cleaning, and repainting of materials then to maintain the system we currently have in place. Circuit breakers will often have products that are used or older that need to be repainted before they are sent to a customer. The current paint removal system is big, bulky, and growing older creating multiple safety hazards. The material cleaning system has a lot of different hazardous materials. The cleaning machines are big, bulky, and require a lot of maintenance. The painter takes too long to complete jobs, which create a backup in production. There is a backup if the painter is sick. There is a hazard to personnel from the paint fumes. The fan that removes the fumes often breaks down. The current system uses a lot of power. All of the problems are causing the company to lose money and not acquire it. The company should change to a single machine that removes paint, cleans, and repaints all in one. This would save time in the process of production and increase the amount of money to the company. The system would save space and reduce the amount of hazardous materials produced. The cost of the system would be one hundred forty thousand dollars and delivery would be one thousand dollars with a seven hundred dollar installation cost. The total power required for this system would cost 2000 watts a month. This system will decrease electricity used by forty five percent. Current problems paint removal system The first problem is the amount of space that the four paint removal systems take up. The space could be used for more important diagnostic equipment. The total amount of electricity used of all four machines is 1700 watts. The four machines often break down because they are getting older. This requires a technician to come and work on the machines costing the company money. One machine has an electrical shock hazard and the gloves on all machines are getting older and cause burns on the hands. The burns on the hands have sent some of the employees to the hospital for treatment. Material Cleaner There is currently an entire room with five machines that are designated for cleaning materials. This space could be better utilized. This room is full of hazardous materials that create a fire hazard. These machines are getting older and require maintenance that waists man hours. The cost of disposal of the hazardous material is very expensive. The machines have safety protection that must be used with them. If the safety equipment is used improperly it can cause harm to employees. If an employee is hurt by a machine this results in hospitals bills that the company must pay for. Painter The painter takes a long time to do his work, which creates a backup in the products that need to be painted. During a random survey during a forty-five day period of the year there was an average backup of five items. This slows down the process of production. If employees stand near the painter while he is painting they can become overwhelmed by the paint fumes. The fan that is used to remove the fumes often breaks down requiring a maintenance expert to come out to fix it. The painter also makes human errors when he is painting requiring him to redo his work. When the painter is sick there is no one able to replace him, so there is a backup in production. When a hundred and fifty materials were checked there was an average of three errors on each piece of material. I will explain what the solution to these problems should be. Proposed Solution I propose that there should be one system that removes paint, cleans, and repaints materials that are being sent to customers. The system would take up only one medium sized room. This allows the company to store materials better. The new system will reduce electricity being used by forty five percent saving the company on average three thousand dollars a month. This system will streamline the process for delivery to the customer. The streamlined process will bring in more money for the company. This also reduces the amount of human error, because a machine will be doing it. This system also reduces the amount of hazardous material produced and can clean and reuse the hazardous material over and over again saving the company money. The system also dramatically reduces the risk of injury to humans from electrical shock, hazardous material, and paint fumes by removing the human from actually touching the materials. The system will allow all personnel to perform maintenance on the system and does not have to have an expert come out to work on the system. The following is a budget analysis. Budget Item System Delivery Installation Total Cost Cost in dollars $140,000 $7,000 $700 147,700 Conclusion I am excited about implementing this machine into the company. This system will resolve multiple problems associated with the current paint removal, material cleaner, and painting system. This new system will help us to streamline the process and allow more money to be brought into the company. The new system will also reduce the amount of cost for the company to produce a product. The bottom line is that new system will put more money in the company’s pocket.
