iCRAG Post-doctoral position: RM1.3 PD1 Determining the Mesozoic–Cenozoic thermal history of the Irish offshore basins and the Irish mainland The Department of Geology at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, immediately seeks applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in thermal history modelling applied to the Mesozoic–Cenozoic thermal history of the Irish mainland and it offshore basins. We are particularly interested in: i) Characterising the thermal history evolution of the Irish offshore basins and offshore basin highs ii) Characterising (spatially and temporally) zones of Late Cenozoic exhumation on the Irish mainland iii) Linking the above with existing data from the Irish mainland and offshore basins (legacy thermal history data and the Mesozoic–Cenozoic faulting record). iCRAG, the new Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences, is funded under the SFI Research Centres Programme and is co-funded under the European Regional Development Fund. It is supporting >40 new early career research opportunities. This iCRAG post-doctoral fellowship is for 44 months, with a starting salary of c. €34,000 increasing to c. €37,000 by year 4. Completion of a PhD. is preferred although highly qualified applicants nearing the end of a Ph.D. will be considered. Experience in low-temperature thermochronology (apatite fission-track and U-Th/He dating) is essential. Experience of LA-ICP-MS and a peer-reviewed publication record are advantageous. The Department has a fission track laboratory, a LA-ICPMS laboratory and comprehensive mineral separation facilities (http://www.tcd.ie/Geology/research/facilities/geochemfacility/). Please contact Dr David Chew chewd@tcd.ie (+353-1-896-3481) for further information. Applications should be sent to the above email address and should include a curriculum vitae, list of publications, statement of research interests, and contact details of two academic referees. Evaluations of applicants will start March 16th, 2015 and continue until the position is filled.
