lupus have on the bodies
organs. Lupus is a chronic
disease that can cause several
life threatening problems
with lupus patients. There are
several organs that are
affected by lupus. Lupus can
cause different problems with
the heart, lungs, blood,
kidney, brain, and joints. Let’s
explore the affects lupus on
the human body. “According

doctor.org, Lupus can affect
many parts of the body,
including your joints, skin,
kidneys, heart and lungs. If
you have lupus, your
symptoms can develop
quickly or slowly. Symptoms
can also come and go, and
they can be mild or severe”.

leading causes of death with
individual who are inflicted
with lupus. Lupus causes
inflammation. Inflammation
can cause scaring on the heart
which causes the heart
problems pumping the blood
properly. This can also cause
the heart to encounter

The heart is a muscle an when
it becomes inflamed and
infected with a bacterial or
fungal infection it could
become potentially deadly to
individuals with lupus.

 The lungs can be impacted
thought the diaphragm, the
lining of the lung, and the lungs
themselves. The main source of
the problem is inflammation.
The lungs can cause problems
with breathing in person living
with lupus. The individual
afflicted with lupus will begin
to suffer shortness of breath,
and chest pain.

Leukopenia and Neutropenia
occurs in lupus patient when
the white blood cells are low. It
can also occur in individual
with lupus when they are on
medications to help combat
lupus.

major issue for lupus patients.
Because the kidneys filters the
blood and rid the body of
waste it is very important that
the kidneys are functioning
properly. “According to the
Lupus Foundation of America,
It is estimated that as many as
40 percent of all people with
lupus, and as many as twothirds of all children with
lupus, will develop kidney
complications that require
medical evaluation and
treatment.” (The Lupus, 2010)
One of the treatments may
include dialysis. Dialysis is a
system use to help filter the
blood in the blood as it gets rid
of the waste in the kidneys.

 The joints of lupus patient
can be a painful
experience. When the
joints become inflamed or
take on inflammation the
joints can become stiff,
swollen, and sometime
warm to the touch. The
joint pain can also be due
to arthritis cause by the
inflammation. Steroids are
given to lupus patient to
help combat with joint
discomfort.

lupus. Lupus can affect the
skin all over the body. It is
more prominent in the
face. The rash on the face
looks in resembles of a
butterfly. The medical
professions call the rash a
butterfly rash. Lupus also
causes hair lost in people
