Visit #1 -Introduce 1st EQ Remind students that pleasure reading is simply reading for fun and it’s a great way to spend time…but you have to select the books that are the right fit. -Introduce 2nd EQ -Read We’re Going a Book Hunt -Review I-PICK and the 5 Finger Rule using the Activboard Flipchart. Visit #2 -Review 1st two EQs from last week. -Introduce 3rd EQ Remind students that Fiction is a made up story. Sing “Fiction is a Made Up Story…” -Introduce week #2 Guided Practice Visit #3 -Review 1st three EQs from last three weeks. -Introduce 4th EQ Remind students that nonfiction gives us facts. Sing “Nonfiction gives us facts” -Introduce week #3 Guided Practice Visit #4 -Review All EQs -Introduce Week#4 Guided Practice D.O.K Recall and Skill/Concept Week #1 Individual Students familiarize themselves with using IPICK/5 Finger Test while browsing. Mrs. Rubin works one-on-one with students as needed. Week #2 Individual Fiction Taste Testing Students practice using IPICK/5 Finger Check while taste testing fiction books. Students “rate” the books on their menus. Week #3 Individual Nonfiction Taste Testing Students practice using IPICK/5 Finger Check while taste testing nonfiction books. Students “rate” the books on their menus. Week #4 Pairs/Small Group Students select their “top pick” from their menu. Using iPad and Popplet Lite App, they photograph it, then type their first name and “picks…” title of book. Closure What Did I Learn? Review EQs Exit Ticket Each student shows Mrs. Rubin his or her book and tells one thing that interests them about the book and identify if it is fiction or nonfiction.
