In her award application, Rose Harris discusses how she returned home after serving 21 years in the military to be her ailing mother’s caregiver. After working two jobs following her military service, Harris desired to make a career change to Information Technology to “build upon the skills I’ve learned in the military and increase my skill knowledge.” Ms. Harris will pursue a career in the rapidly growing Cybersecurity field while training in the Security and Network Infrastructure Specialist program at New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Central and Eastern North Carolina. “We are so thrilled to partner with New Horizons to honor Rose Harris in her studies and help her move forward in her career. She is an amazing woman”, said Dawn Barnett, President of Connected Women of North Carolina. Ms. Harris began classes on December 14th, and the check presentation will take place Tuesday, December 22nd at 1:30pm in the lobby of New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Central and Eastern North Carolina, 5400 S. Miami Blvd., #140, Durham NC 27703. Representatives from Connected Women of North Carolina and New Horizons will be on hand.
