Course Description
The course introduces participants to the history of medicines. The course is made up of lecturers
and tutorials.
Objective
 Describe major historical events in medicine.
 Explain the significancy of these events to current medical practice.
Outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to explain major historical events in medicine
and their importance.
Content
Historical discoveries; History of chemotherapy.
Evolution of medicine as a profession.
Development of medical services in Uganda.
Requirements
60 contact hours equivalent to 4 CU
Mode of assessment
Progressive assessment 40%
End of Semester exam 60%.
