Job title: IT Technician Reporting to: IT Systems Manager Description of Job Role: The role covers all aspects of managing a multi-site computer network and includes installation, configuration monitoring and maintenance of both hardware and software to ensure all students and staff have access to working IT as and when required Key Responsibilities: the main responsibilities of the post will include: Providing a high level of technical support to ensure that staff and students at all sites have access to working IT Diagnosing and resolving IT problems Pro-actively monitoring servers, switches and backup devices across all sites Producing ID cards and maintaining records of the same Creating and managing network and email accounts for staff and students Ensuring printers are maintained in a working order Working with AD group policies to ensure network security Unboxing, configuring, imaging and installing PCs and laptops Performing hardware and software inventories of all PCs and laptops Person specification Essential Desirable High Standard of Education Professional IT certification (MCITP, MCSE, CompTIA or similar) An ability to use IT effectively to plan and carry out workload (Word, Excel, Outlook, internet, consult websites, etc.) Work with challenging young people, within an educational environment An ability to show initiative in developing and maintaining systems An ability to provide accurate information as and when required An ability to deal with people sensitively and confidentially within policies and procedures Articulate and approachable, outstanding interpersonal skills A full, clean, UK driving licence A methodical and organised approach to work Self motivation in the pursuit of excellence Flexible approach to work as IT can include out of hours Able to work under pressure and to deadlines High level of attention to detail Ability to use initiative Honesty and integrity Professional appearance Have good, written and verbal communication skills and be able to relate well to staff, candidates of all abilities, parents and carers.
