Bridges out of Poverty is a 2-day workshop based on Dr Ruby Payne’s ‘A framework for Understanding
Poverty’. The workshop teaches the hidden rules of economic class and spreads the message that, despite
the obstacles poverty can create in all types of interaction, there are specific strategies for overcoming
them.
The highly acclaimed Bridges out of Poverty 2 day workshop is to be
delivered by Nairn Walker from Social Solutions. Nairn has delivered
workshops to over fifty thousand professionals in the past 10 years, to
raise awareness of Dr Ruby Payne s insights into the issues
presented by economic disadvantage and how they affect every level
of our communities, schools and businesses.
Nairn is committed to strategies that make a difference in
communities, so her 2 day workshop provides participants with
practical tools for changing the way they go about their work. Nairn’s
workshop is relevant to practitioners across the employment, health,
education, housing, justice, business and social services sectors.
Getting Ahead Facilitator Training builds on your knowledge from
the 2 day Bridges out of Poverty workshop to enable you to facilitate
the Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin'-By World course. Getting Ahead in
a Just Gettin’ By World is a curriculum that facilitates a process for
people from poverty to investigate the impact that poverty has had on
themselves and their community and to use this information to build resources for a better life and
community.
Please note that the pre-requisite for an individual to do this Facilitator Training is completion of Days 1 & 2
of Bridges out of Poverty. This then qualifies that person to conduct Getting Ahead courses for their
agency or organisation in communities.
